Band Plans

The International Telecommunication Union, through World Radio Conferences, makes decisions and recommendations on the use of the radio frequency spectrum. The Australian Radio Frequency Spectrum Plan provides broad guidance for the use of the spectrum in Australia.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) specify the purposes for which the bands may be used. Frequency Band Plans are then prepared for commonly used sections of the bands. They specify the channelling arrangement and permitted usage within the bands.

The commonly used band plans below 1 GHz are shown below. Click on the relevant Band Plan to view a summary of the designated channelling arrangements. The full band plan documentation is available by clicking the links to the ACMA website. Radspec assigns frequencies in accordance with the ACMA band plans.
